my current skincare faves as a licensed esthetician

hey pretty girls

i wanna share my current favorite skincare products as a licensed esthetician! these are what i have been using lately!
everyone has different skin so some of these products might not be the best for you, so take this with a grain of salt. farmhouse fresh's website allows you to chat with an esthetician to pick the right products!
lastly, this isn't sponsored! i make ZERO dollars if you decide to purchase these LOL! i do not work with or for farmhouse fresh. my salon does use skin authority, but i don't make commission if you decide to purchase from them either.

(... i wish farmhouse fresh sponsored me lol!)

here's a breakdown of the products i use, why, and in the correct order!

1.) make it melt silky milk cleansing balm by farmhouse fresh

i use this product at nighttime to remove makeup and spf, so i only use it once a day. it feels so amazing and the jar has so much product in it! it comes with a tiny little spatula to hep you get product out too! this is great for all skin types!

2.) new groove hemp wash gel cleanser by farmhouse fresh

this is my second cleanse at night. in the morning, i will start with this product, this is an amazing gel cleanser that turns foamy when you add water. it smells so fresh and my skin doesn't feel stripped after. i have oily skin, so this cleanser is best suited for me.

3.) super lettuce facial tonic by farmhouse fresh

i mist this all over my face at nighttime only once a day. my skin can handle daily exfoliation, so if you're considering this product, try it 2-3x a week first. i will also spray this on my bikini area since i do my own brazilians. i can make a separate post about brazilian wax aftercare if anyone is interested!

4.) finely awake plantfoliant by farmhouse fresh

this is a facial scrub that i do only at nighttime about 2-3x a week (or just when i wanna do a facial at home). if you have sensitive skin, this might be a little harsh for you. i apply the product, wet my hands, then massage the product in circular motions for a bit then let it set for about 10 minutes before washing off with water

5.) 7 minute makeover mask by skin authority

this is a single use sheet mask i like to use when i feel like having a facial night. as the name implies, let it set for 7 minutes then remove, and rinse the residue with warm water. this is one of those bubbling charcoal masks that feel heavenly! any skin type can use this product.

6.) flat out firm hyaluronic acid peptide firming serum by farmhouse fresh

this is pretty much the only serum i've been using lately. i usually put this on once a night, but it wouldn't hurt you to do 2x a day if you really wanted to. this serum hydrates and targets wrinkles without retinols.

7.) kale water weightless moisturizer by farmhouse fresh

as i mentioned above, i have oily skin, so this thinner moisturizer is my favorite, especially for mornings. be aware that this product does have retinyl palmitate, which is a gentler form of retinol. yes, you can use it everyday, but you need to wear spf when using any form of retinol (aka vitamin a).

8.) watermelonaid wrinkle-out silky gelee by farmhouse fresh

i got this product free when i placed a bigger order. i like to use this moisturizer instead of the kale water one every now and then at nighttime. beware, it is heavier and thicker but feels amazing. it is better suited for drier skin types but sometimes i like the extra drench! the watermelon and cbd are mega soothing as well!

9.) bluephoria lip therapy by farmhouse fresh

this is my current favorite lip balm! i also got this as a freebie when i ordered if i'm remembering correctly. i like to use this everyday in the morning. it uses hemp, just like the cleanser i mentioned earlier, to sooth, nourish and replenish lips. i love how mine feel after using!

10.) tint-sational sheer skin-perfecting serum by farmhouse fresh

this is technically skincare, but i use this as my makeup! it's the perfect dewy look if you hate wearing foundation. this product also has peptides, retinyl palmitate and vitamin c! i use a makeup primer with spf in it before using this product (not pictured).
i do sometimes use a tinted spf instead of those two products, it just depends on how my skin is feeling.

thank you so much for reaching the bottom! i absolutely love farmhouse fresh and know you will too! they love to give you free full-sized products when you spend a certain amount of money and they send free samples with every single order! i can't wait to try more products and review them for y'all!

love,
cherry

strangers are your biggest supporters

dear diary,

one of the biggest lessons i’ve learned over the last 3 years is that strangers are more likely to support you and your business/project than friends and family. the people in your life claim that they’re so excited for you, and will support you, but they don’t.

one big example is my career as an esthetician. my best clients are strangers who booked. it’s extremely rare that someone in my personal life books with me. i’m not saying they have to, it’s just something i’ve noticed.

family and friends tend to not see your business/project as legitimate. they think it’s a “cute little side hustle”. no ma’am, i have a LICENSE FOR THIS, I WENT TO SCHOOL FOR THIS. they show up when you’re in school and need people to practice on, but once you have the license, skill and experience to charge what you’re worth, it’s crickets.

sometimes it’s also other beauty professionals. i have many friends in the beauty space (estheticians, cosmetologists, barbers, nail techs, etc.) and usually we’re all super supportive of each other. once they think you threaten their business, they will throw you to the wolves unfortunately. this actually just happened to me. this stylist (who i know and considered a friend) was cutting my husband’s cousin’s hair and also waxed his eyebrows and the back of his neck. whenever he said the wax really hurt, she then decided to tell him that my sugaring hurts worse.

excuse me? for context, i have sugared her before and she said it was great. everyone has a different pain tolerance and they’re entitled to their opinion, but i thought it was kind of ugly to put me down, and my line of work.

my husband thinks that she was just nervous that he’d want me to do those services instead of her, and that’s why she said it. i do choose to believe this, but i just don’t appreciate her bringing me up in the first place.

if you have to put others down to get to your goal, you’re pathetic in my opinion. i don’t put down waxers even though i do the sugaring. i think sugaring is better because of the product, not the professionals. i also think there are some really amazing waxers out there. we have the same goal for clients, just different ways of getting there and that’s okay. plus, having multiple options helps clients find the right fit for them. everyone is different and has their own preferences.

what do you think? have you ever been in a situation like this before? what helped you have a better mindset about it?

until next time!

cherry

do you ever just want more in life?

 dear diary,

for my age, i am ahead in life. i am married, i co-own my home with my husband, i'm no longer in school, working my career.... literally everything everyone works towards. i'm 22 with my shit together basically. isn't that great? yes, but i'm greedy.

if you saw my "about me" widget, you'll know i'm a licensed esthetician. i love being an esthetician, but the journey to become one was so short. i finished school in 6 months, which is awesome, but i feel like i'm not getting the "college" experience, even though i went to college for 2 years before that lol. i took some college classes at 16 while i was in high school, but i never got a degree.

i have come to terms with the fact that i want to be an esthetics instructor. i love explaining things to people, and i love teaching others. i actually considered being a college instructor for science at one point, so i guess that's kinda coming back.

i'm literally 22, it's never too late to go back to school! not sure why i'm hesitating.

my husband has suggested us moving too... i'd rather have my instructor's license before that ever happens. i would be sad to leave my current clients though :( they are so amazing and i love them. they'd be happy for me, but honestly? i would be okay with just instructing. i feel like it would really fulfill me. i could work at a community college or a beauty school. it would really help with the back pain too lol!

have you ever hesitated on a big decision like this? feel free to share in the comments. this isn't just my diary, it's yours too <3

some ways i romanticize life

 hello pretty girls

today we're going to talk about romanticizing our life! i genuinely think this has improved my quality of life. when you naturally have a negative mindset, these little things can help you appreciate the little things.

    1. self care / hygiene

taking care of your body when you feel bleh is truly soul healing. dim the lights, light a candle, have a routine that smells amazing,. wash your hair if it's needed. do a mini facial on yourself, and use some lotion. here's some shower inspo:

    2.. the perfect playlist

i absolutely love music and have always felt connected with it. make sure you're not constantly listening to dark, depressing music. this can manipulate your subconscious into feeling down. check out the spotify playlist on my blog for the ultimate early 2000s it-girl fall music.

    3. set the atmosphere

i already mentioned lighting a candle, but make sure it's the right candle. fall scents like apple, pumpkin, cinnamon, smores, vanilla, cupcakes, whatever scent is calling to you. tap into all five of your senses; sight, touch, taste, smell and sound. we already covered sound with the playlist, use candles and perfumes for scent. here's some candle and perfume inspo:

    4. your outfit is everything

if you're doing a nighttime routine, get the best pajamas/robe! if you like to do overnight curls, put your hair up. if you're going out, get the best outfit, and do your hair and makeup, even if there's no special occasion! you deserve to get dolled up for no reason. i put some inspo down below:

    5. affirmations!

stop saying "i wish i was a girl in the early 2000s who had everything..." BITCH YOU ARE! you ARE a girl in the early 2000s who has everything! you need to romanticize the life you have, and you HAVE to start loving yourself RIGHT NOW! here are some examples of things to say:

i am the main character. i am the it girl. i am exactly who i want to be. i am such a good student/worker. i have so much whimsy. i pamper myself because it's who i am. i am my pinterest boards. i am exactly who i envision myself to be. i am so successful in my career/schooling. i am so beautiful without even trying. i slow down and enjoy the little things because the little things in my life are amazing. i dress up because i want to and there are no rules. i do whatever i want and don't care what others think about it. i make time for myself. i am soft without being weak. i trust that my life is unfolding exactly how it should. i am the girl who invests in myself. i am the girl who has hobbies and adds her own magic to the everyday life.

    6. have a clean space

i know this one can be difficult, but having a nice clean space truly heals the mind. when my house is cluttered, it's like my brain can't slow down. i feel like having a clean space makes it 10x more cozy too. freshly washed sheets and blankets on your bed after a long shower is the best thing EVER <3.

    7. change your algorithms

the content you interact with on social media builds your algorithm. are you constantly viewing negative content? are you consuming self-hating content then wondering why you hate yourself? the answer is clear! i personally like to interact with positive affirmation content and of course, other girl blogger content. the girl blogger community is all about romanticizing your life, so you should join us! this should go for the podcasts you listen to as well. i will link some videos that i enjoyed in this category, and show you some of my girl blogger moots sometime in a separate post!

these are just a few things i do to romanticize my life and i hope that sharing these motivates you to do the same! i have struggled with depression on and off my entire life, and i have decided that my life is AWESOME! and guess what? your life can be too. life is hard most of the time. it's time to take your life back, it's time for you to decide how you feel about it.

thank you for being here. cherry loves you!
